Andrew Tyson

Andrew Tyson manages the bKL Model Shop with over 10 years of experience in both Digital and Wood/Metal fabrication and shop management. Andrew fabricates architectural designs into models as each bKL project evolves during the design phase. He is fascinated in how materiality can be expressed through paper, plastic and paint and thrives in learning about how new technological advances can enhance his craft. His keen eye for detail and his holistic approach to problem-solving fuels his passion for the translation of digital designs into physical form.

Highly-skilled in woodworking, welding and modelmaking, Andrew has excelled in the understanding of material properties and building techniques, which has been the driving force at every stage of his career. Outside of work, he teaches a CNC: Integrated Fabrication course at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Andrew earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
